Quick Update...

It feels like forever since I have taken the time to sit down and update my blog. It seems that everytime I think about it I get overwhlemed by how far behind I am! Anyways... I started work a couple weeks ago and I LOVE IT! I love the hospital, the people I work with, my preceptor, everything! It has been so awesome to finally start using my nursing skills. I have so much to learn that sometimes it can seem overwhelming. Thank goodness my preceptor is patient with me... I probably drive her crazy asking 20 million questions every shift! I a m looking forward to opportunites to help people...

HE IS HUGE and he has a personality to match... He is smiling and laughing and did I mention SCREAMING?? This kid has his daddy's lungs! It has been an adjustment working and not being with him all the time but he is in such good hands with my mom and sister that it makes this transition so much easier...

Hey! Thanks so much for your nice comment. That's hilarious that you knew right away who "Dr. L" was!! Glad we both got our kiddos out of there. And thanks for the tip on Dr. Horton. Things with Dr. Rott, down in San Marcos, seem to be working out really well, but if anything happens, its nice to know of another doctor that sounds awesome!!! :-) Dr. L is a piece of work. When I first brought up the acid reflux, she was basically like, "Oh, babies spit up. He just has colic. He's not crying from pain." I wanted to be like, "YOU come home and deal with the screaming and tell me its 'just colic' and not pain from acid reflux." Her first suggestion was to pump every other feeding and add rice cereal to it... to thicken the milk and keep it down. She wanted me to do it for TWO WEEKS. Ok, TWO WEEKS? I told her I would try for 2 days. It was only after that, when I called crying from mastitis and that it was IMPOSSIBLE to pump that much with a screaming kid that I just cant set down for a few minutes, that she finally gave him Zantac.

Anywho. Thanks again for the comment! Glad you found an awesome doctor too. Its so important to have a pediatrician that you love!
